Closing the Teach For America Blogging Gap

Week 6

I really wish I would have started this blog a while ago, but hey, better late than never.

I am in my 6th week of teaching secondary (this year it’s 8th grade) math in Miami-Dade and so far it has been one hell of a roller-coaster ride.  Reading these blogs have helped me many times when I thought my head was going to explode, knowing that I am not in this alone, that my experiences are not mine alone.  Now I am posting to help others and also connect to people who understand the situation I am in.  I think one of the most difficult aspects about being in TFA isn’t actually in teaching the students, but it’s in not being able to connect to those people who are not teachers.

So for now I’ll just leave this as my intro and come back to post about what’s going in my classroom a little later. :)

Reading these blogs really helps me escape the realities of my own school so I totally hear you there…and people who are not teachers don’t quite understand how busy it is! I didn’t understand until I became a teacher….
