It’s testing day here in 1222 which leaves me with a lot of time to read (while periodically looking up to check for cheating of course).
As I was catching up on the news of the day I found this interesting article about early childhood education. It’s an article that claims reasearch is finding out that the true indicator of academic success or otherwise is being in control of your behavior/emotions.
Now, I know that all of you out there who are teaching know what this is talking about; we have experienced first hand the effects of children who cannot control their actions and have never really been taught to. The article also states that “executive function,” as they call it, is more important and more malleable than I.Q.
